WineWeb's goal is to provide technology solutions to wineries and wine merchants, in a cost-effective manner, to enable them to leverage that technology to grow their business. We understand that there are many wineries and merchants that don't have the time or resources to create technology solutions for their business. WineWeb provides services to allow the business to control their direct sales channel, without having to understand the underlying technology. WineWeb HistoryThe WineWeb began in 1995, primarily as an online directory of wineries. We provided a database-enabled website, a content management system, and e-commerce services before these terms had even been coined. As the use of technology has been adopted by more wineries, our services have expanded and now include the ability for a winery or wine merchant to have their entire Internet presence served by the WineWeb.
Ron's 25+ year career in information technology has spanned numerous technologies across numerous industries. He has consulted with some of the country's largest companies and many smaller companies. This breadth and depth of experience provides him the expertise to direct WineWeb in an ever-changing technological and regulatory landscape. More on Ron A 21st Century Services ProviderBased on Ron's experience as a Senior Manager with one of the Big 8 (now Big 4) management consulting firms and his management experience at a global IT firm, he brings a virtual, global workforce model to the company. Gone are the days when a company's workforce must live close by a building where they commute each day to a desk. WineWeb's workforce model allows it to hire the best resources, regardless of geography, and have them available when needed, instead of stuck in traffic. WineWeb believes this provides the best service for its clients, ensuring that the services are always functional and that each client receives a timely response to their questions. WineWeb has no employees. Our resources, including sales, customer support, designers and developers, are independent contractors. Aside from the obvious benefit that income taxes are assessed based on our people's net income versus gross wages, this model enables us to leverage a global labor pool, instead of a smaller labor pool within a 30 mile radius of an office building. Currently over nine people derive a major part of their income from WineWeb. WineWeb is green. Most of our people have a zero commute time to their office space. All of the energy needed to power, heat and cool our corporate office space comes from the sun. We purchase carbon offsets for the energy used by the servers in our data center. WineWeb is debt-free with a positive cash flow. Ron's education and previous career as a CPA taught him that a self-funded business model is preferable to an investor-funded model, and to only use venture capital funding as a last resort. Since 1995, WineWeb has seen numerous companies in this market space lose a huge amount of investor money. Matching revenue and expense growth may not be the most rapid way to build a business, but it is the most sustainable. WineWeb Philosophy and ValuesWineWeb understands that providing quality, robust services, and exceptional customer service is a way of life. We won't tell you that we have the best services in this market space. Would you believe us if we did? Talk to our clients and listen to why they chose WineWeb and why they continue to be a client (we don't force them to stay with long-term contracts). You'll likely know some of our clients, and we're confident they'll be honest as we don't have anything in our agreement that restricts their free speech. WineWeb does not disparage other vendors. As other service providers enter and leave this market space, we don't talk bad about them in an attempt to gain new business. We believe our services are as good or better than any of our competitors, and we provide you with information about us to make an informed decision. Our services can effectively support larger sized wineries, and our business model makes them also affordable to smaller wineries. WineWeb believes in an open and honest approach to everything it does. Ask us a question and we'll give you a straight answer. If we can't do something, we'll tell you (and we'll work with you to see if we can enhance our services to make it work). We list the details of all our services, including pricing, online at services.wineweb.com.

The concept for what would become WineWeb was conceived as Ron Kreutzer, an information technology management consultant, was visiting a co-worker in Australia as part of an overseas assignment. A budding wine enthusiast, Ron's trip to the Barossa Valley reinforced his interest in wine. Upon returning home and discovering that most of the wines he had enjoyed abroad were not available in the U.S., he set out to find a way to use technology to inform others about the wines of the world.
